Kearsley Academy celebrates GCSE results 2026
Northern Education Trust Kearsley Academy best ever GCSE results.
Students at Northern Education Trust Kearsley Academy, one of 17 secondary academies sponsored by the trust, have achieved some of their best ever GCSE results.
The academy has also secured a significant number of strong passes (Grade 5+) in English and maths, with 64% of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in both subjects, up from 59.4% last year and more than twenty percentage points above the national figure of 45.4%. An amazing 75.5% of students overall achieved a pass in English and maths, demonstrating an improvement of 5.7 percentage points on last year’s results and again significantly above the recent national averages.
Ryan Baxter, Principal of Kearsley Academy, thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying: “This is an excellent set of results for our students and for Kearsley Academy that we can all be extremely proud of. The outcomes represent much more than just grades, they stand as a testament to the dedication of our students, the expertise of our staff, and the support of our families and community. The students have worked extremely hard to achieve at these levels and they are testament to the efforts and attitude shown in school and additional time invested around the school day throughout their time here at Kearsley. We are delighted with the continued upward trajectory of our outcomes, in particular with the exceptional results attained over recent years as a strong comparison. I’d like to thank the staff for their continued passion, effort, energy and dedication demonstrated in helping our students achieve the very best from their education. We are delighted for our students and community and wish everyone the best of luck for their next steps.”
Andrew Newton, Executive Principal at Northern Education Trust, added his praise, saying: “Kearsley is no longer a school that is improving. It is a school performing at a genuinely high level and holding it there. Two thirds of our students have left with a strong pass in both English and maths, more than twenty percentage points above the national figure, and Attainment 8 remains comfortably clear of national for a second successive year. Northern Education Trust believes that every child, in every one of our academies, deserves the very best, and Kearsley shows what that looks like once it is fully embedded. My warmest congratulations to every student and to the staff who have taught them so well.”
Dean Buckley, Associate Senior Executive Principal at Northern Education Trust, added: “These outstanding results are a testament to the unwavering dedication, hard work, and resilience of both our staff and students. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the Kearsley community, and every member of our school should take immense pride in what we’ve accomplished together. My heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved. We couldn’t be prouder of our exceptional students.”
